It is a kind of musical for very-very young children. The performance is based on six original songs for toddlers. The starting point for its creation was the inspiration with Mrs. Krystyna Miłobędzka’s work and her perception of the children world. Seeking simplicity in reaching the depths of a children imagination and finding play to be the most valuable form of childhood education. The songs that form the basis of the performance are an attempt to describe the world of nature. The simplest yet most important of the phenomena around us: sun, rain, clouds, trees, are a pretext for developing theatrical imagination.
Playing with simple geometric forms, combined with the performance of songs, is an incentive not only to fantasise but also to sing together. The goal of the performance is to sensitise children to both natural phenomena and the world of sounds created by the human voice, a natural instrument bestowed upon us by nature.
The visual setting for the performance, inspired by children drawings, was created by Ireneusz Domagała in collaboration with the BLUM Theatre team.
BLUM Theatre was founded in Poznań in 2000 by Lucyna Winkel and soon became one of the forerunners of the so-called very-very theatre trend in Poland. The ‘CO TO?’ (‘WHAT IS THIS?’) play for children up to the age of four, created in collaboration with Katarzyna Pawłowska in 2006, is officially the first Polish performance of this kind. The performance was awarded at Festiwal Korczak 2007 and has represented Poland at international theatre festivals (e.g. in Bologna, Shanghai, Lisbon, Newry) on several occasions. Teatr BLUM brings together interesting artists from various fields of art, constantly seeking new means of expression to reach out to the very-very young children and their carers. Our performances usually consist of 3 parts:
1) pre-play (takes place still in the foyer before the children enter the auditorium, and aims to familiarise the young audience with the characters from the play);
2) main performance (children watch it as an audience, it lasts no longer than 30 minutes);
3) post-performance play (the aim of the play is for the children to let off the emotions accumulated during the performance, the stage is transformed into a playground).
