In the Big Five Meneer Monster performs big and exciting for the smallest children. The show starts at the blistering heat of an African desert and slowly evolves into an exciting parade where costumes are the main character of the show.
A theatre show with rousing beats, where we celebrate the full colours of nature and humankind. About diversity, standing out but also blending in and camouflage. The show explores the tension between being and showing yourself and hiding and belonging to a group. The Big Five is performed in a catwalk configuration. The audience on both sides of the runway. The performers coming through middle. This way the audience is very close to the performance in order to create a immersive experience. But no worries, everybody is behind a strong cord, because we expect THE BIG FIVE on stage.
After the thrilling performance “The Big Five”, join us for a special meeting with the actors of Meneer Monster. This will not be just a talk – it’s a real theatrical safari!
During the workshop you will:
- see and experience the animals up close,
- learn which of the Big Five was the trickiest to bring to life,
- discover what happens behind the scenes – the things the audience never gets to see,
- and even try moving and acting like some of the animals yourself.
You will have the chance to ask questions, take photos, and hear entertaining stories straight from the creators. Come closer, meet the Big Five from the inside out, and discover that theatre itself is a wild adventure!
Meneer Monster is a Dutch theatre company that brings their unique theatre approach to staging international youth literature. The company makes ‘Pixar theatre’ packed with humour, fantasy and imagination. Our shows are wildly popular, high energy and packed full of fun. With ‘the amazing 13- story treehouse’ they won 2 Dutch theatre awards in 2018. Meneer Monster perform in the Netherlands and Belgium all year round, but we are touring through for example China, Taiwan and South Africa as well.
