On the stages of Impart Centrum, Firlej, the Academy of Theatre Arts, and OPT Zamek in Leśnica, audiences will experience contemporary circus, storytelling theatre, concerts, shadow theatre, and improvised performances. The programme embraces both daring, acrobatic shows filled with humour and more intimate productions that rely on simple yet powerful forms of expression.
A central theme of this year’s edition is attentiveness to relationships and the world around us. The artists invited to “Dziecinada” do not wish to detach the audience from reality but to reveal that everyday life itself can be a source of wonder and magic. At the core of the festival lie relationships – with others, with nature, and with oneself. Stories of diversity that enrich rather than divide, and of the courage to see the world from a different perspective, will also play an important role.
The programme features, among others, “roundABOUT” by Tsubasa Hori from Japan, a musical performance that combines percussion with visual projections inspired by the Bon dance tradition, as well as “Double You” by the Belgian collective BeFlat, an extraordinary theatrical experiment blending acrobatics, parkour, and live music. The audience will also have the chance to see productions acclaimed worldwide, such as “Miss Ophelia” by Het Filiaal Theatermakers, a poetic performance that sparks the imagination, and “On the Road” by the Belgian group Laika, a vibrant visual and dance-driven show full of energy. The repertoire also includes “Big Five” by the Dutch troupe Meneer Monster, a musical adventure where African animals come to life on stage, and “Go Ahead!” by KompaniTO from Norway, a story about creating one’s own rules.
The festival will conclude with “Vikings of the North Street” by Baj Pomorski Theatre, a tale of relationships, loneliness, and the discovery of self-worth.
The highlight of the festival will be the open-air day in the picturesque setting of OPT Zamek in Leśnica. The green grounds by Plac Świętojański will come alive with workshops, animations, performances, and concerts. On this day, audiences will have the chance to see, under the open sky, productions recognised and acclaimed around the world. The finale will feature “Tarabumba Circus” by Klinika Lalek Theatre, a spectacle inspired by the circus tradition that proves puppet theatre can replace shows with live animals. It carries an important message of respect for all living beings. The event will take place outside the main festival programme, in the western part of Leśnica Park, at 7:00 p.m., with free admission.
The open-air programme is available HERE.
“Dziecinada” aims to be not only a festival but also a space for encounters and for sharing emotions together. A few days in September in Wrocław may become the beginning of a fascinating adventure that will stay in memory for a long time – and not only for the youngest audiences.
